I graduated from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1999 and completed my 3 years of Junior Residency in Ophthalmology from the Dr Rajendra Prasad Center for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi in 2002. I have maintained a good academic record having obtained my medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate degree (MD) from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, which is rated to be the topmost medical institute of our country.
I worked as a Senior resident for 3 years since January 2003 in the specialty of Vitreoretinal Surgery, Ocular Trauma and Retinopathy of prematurity services. In between , I did a vitreoretina fellowship from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Besides a busy clinical practice (Outpatient department, admissions, clinics, inpatient care and surgeries), my responsibility as Senior Resident involved administration of ward work, supervision of the junior residents, and teaching of junior residents and undergraduates posted in the Vitreoretina specialty. As a Senior resident, I have independently performed various basic and advanced Vitreoretinal surgeries(>1000)including retinal detachment(>300), vitreous hemorrhage, macular hole, dropped nucleus removal and gained expertise in medical retina involving Fluorescein angiography/Lasers for diabetic retinopathy, ARMD, vasculitis, ROP and Phacoemulsification cataract surgery (>1000) among others. In addition to being committed to my duties, I spend much of my time keeping informed of current developments in medical research.
I am working as a Senior Consultant, Ophthalmology in the top multi-specialty hospitals in New Delhi since last 9 years and have expertise in medical and surgical management of various vitreoretinal diseases. As well, I have been involved in organizing eye camps and giving lectures on “Diabetic Retinopathy” which is becoming a global epidemic and TV public education discussions on various topics.
