Hyperopic corrections may be possible by removing more tissue in the mid-periphery than in the center under the superficial flap. Astigmatic and presbyopic corrections may also be possible. Little long term data is currently available on the effectiveness and predictability of corrections using the excimer laser for mid-stromal corrections.
