Delhi Academy of Ophthalmology was established in the year 1993 with the primary objects of advancement of knowledge and practices in Ophthalmology. To achieve its objective it organizes Lecturer workshop, conference symposia scientific discussions & practical training in Ophthalmology for general practitioners and eye care professional (eye surgeons & Technician etc.). It publisher health education materials for the general public and scientific material for the Eye are professionals. It also aims to promote & coordinate basic and clinical research in Ophthalmic service.

The academy organizes Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes for the General Medical Practitioners (GMPs) to up date them with the recent developments in eye care and to deal with the immediate care needed to the patients.

During the year 2002 video-assisted CME programmes were organised by the Delhi Academy of Ophthalmology at Lasertech Eye Centre for the GM on

(1) Cataract, 102 and Lasik Surgery

(2) Glaucoma

(3) Squint and

(4) Cornel Surgery.

DAO has an Academic Panel and proposes on the sub-specialty of cornea and proposes to have similar panels on Cataract Glaucoma , Glance, Squint Vitreo Retina ophthalmoplasty and Low Vision Aids etc.

DAO publishes educational material on Refractive Error, squint in children Low Vision Aids Cataract Glaucoma fluorescence Angiography, Retinal detachment, Diabetes and the Eye. Age Related Macular Degeneration etc.
